BLACKBURN Rovers Academy went one better than their senior stars at the weekend with a convincing 2-0 victory over Bolton.

Gary Bowyer’s side ran out comfortable winners – with Josh Morris and Jake Simpson bagging first-half goals – to give Rovers their second away win of the campaign, Rovers couldn’t quite repeat the same dynamic performance of their 4-0 thumping of Liverpool seven days earlier.

But they carried too much quality for Bolton, and took the lead midway through the opening half.

Midfielder Jason Lowe slipped a low ball into the area, where Morris connected sweetly to find the corner of the net for his third goal of the season.

Wanderers waited over half-an-hour for their first attack of the game when they clipped the post, and the home side pressed for a leveller.

However, Rovers contained the pressure before doubling their lead five minutes before the interval, when Jordan Bowen found Simpson who swept the ball home.

Rovers goalkeeper Bjorn Bussmann was far busier in a more evenly-matched second-half, making a few stunning stops late on.

Blackburn also came close to extending their lead, Morris firing wide from a narrow angle, while Gearoid Morrisey had an effort hacked off the line.
