IF THERE'S one thing that’s consistent about Accrington Stanley, it’s their inconsistency.

After eight games without a win, the victory at Luton on Saturday seems to have given Stanley their belief back after they conspired to lose their last home game against Bradford despite leading 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining.

But two wins on the spin proves that Stanley can be a match for anyone on their day.

The result may look like a surprise, but the Shrews don’t travel well and with just one win on their travels this season, Paul Simpson’s side have been every bit as inconsistent as their hosts.

But the Reds, who welcomed back Robbie Williams in place of Colin Murdock, started this fixture like men possessed, and it took Stanley just 72 seconds to break the deadlock.

Former Shrewsbury man Jimmy Ryan broke away down the right and beat Marc Tierney before crossing the ball into Paul Mullin.

The Stanley skipper laid the ball off to Terry Gornell who took a touch before lashing the it past Luke Daniels.

And it was 2-0 just four minutes later when John Miles broke down the left and cut inside before whipping a cross into Paul Mullin who nodded the ball past a stranded Shrews keeper.

Ben Davies scored in the second half but the Reds were good for the points.
