BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle has revealed how the global credit crunch is affecting his plans in the loan and transfer market.

Steve Jones last week joined Huddersfield Town in a one-month deal, with the option to extend it, and the Burnley boss suggested other departures would be necessary before new players could be brought in.

“Finances are really tight, and that’s not just at our football club, so we’re trying to juggle it here and there,” he said.

“I’m always speaking to people, I have been over the weekend.

“Some players might get a month here or there, if it helps me to bring one or two in.

“I know all the boys are desperate to play, but there comes a point when some players are served better by getting a month out, and equally, if that helps with finance, that’s important.

“If it was just as simple as picking a team, it would be great, but there’s a lot more to it.

“We’re just trying to keep everything bobbing along.

“If it means freeing up cash to help us in the long run then that’s what we have to do.”

He added: “The credit crunch does affect football in many ways, all we can do is work to the best of our ability.

“It’s very much a work in progress, we want to continue to improve and develop.”
