BLACKBURN Rovers boss Paul Ince was delighted with keeping a clean sheet in Saturday’s hard-fought goalless draw at Bolton Wanderers.

Ince played Andre Ooijer in the rare slot of left back, admitting Bolton’s physical presence had offered a pre-match concern.

Ince said: “We did ever so well against a team that are very direct.

"Our two centre-halves were world class today and Andre Ooijer, who I asked to play left-back today to nullify the danger of Kevin Davies, and I thought it worked a treat.

“Andre Ooijer was special and when you come to places like this and the way Bolton play, you’ve got to show character and the spirit that we’ve got. We showed that in abundance today.

“You always know against Bolton, you’re never safe but we dealt with second balls and that’s very important against Bolton.

"When we got the ball down it was important that we played and implemented our style of play and we did that at times.”
