COLNE failed to capitalise on a great start as they lost to leaders Newcastle.
The home side took the lead on 10 minutes when Martin Broderick’s cross deflected off a defender to Stevie Hall who calmly headed the ball over the advancing Danny Read in the Town goal.
But, on 17 minutes, Newcastle were back on level terms when Ryan Dicker’s header from a Taylor free-kick hit the bar and rebounded onto the back of Colne keeper Andy Pickard and into the net.
The turning point came just after half-time when Liam Garbutt was fouled in the area by Dean Gillick who was shown a red card.
But Broderick’s spot-kick was saved and that gave Town the impetus.
On 55 minutes, Newcastle took the lead when Andy Kinsey’s free kick rebounded of the bar to Dicker, who muscled Stuart Shepherd and the ball into the net.
And five minutes later, Chris Budrys took full advantage of a defensive mix-up to seal the points.
