ROSSENDALE were the architects of their own demise at Seel Park on Saturday as three times they let the Mossley forwards in behind their defence and paid dearly for the errors.
On a very heavy pitch, the first 15 minutes looked like producing a very tight game as neither side looked like taking command of the situation.
But that all changed in the 18th minute when Dignan got behind his full back and his accurate cross left Danny Self with the easiest of tap-ins at the far post.
The Stags came close to levelling the score but Paul Derrick saw ex-Rossendale keeper Andy Robertson save his free-kick from the edge of the box.
Mossley’s leading scorer Mike Fish was denied his goal by a brilliant double save by Greg Hall before making it 2-0 just before the break.
With John Turner on as substitute at the start of the second half, Rossendale came more into the game but time and again the Stags fluffed their lines.
With only five minutes left, Rossendale fell for the sucker punch when Mossley caught them on the break and Dan Egan scored to give the hosts the points.
