BACUP completed a hat-trick of wins over St Helens this season as they twice came from behind to win this seven-goal thriller.

Borough had the early pressure but it was the Saints who took an early lead when Iain Dyson got between Phil Melville and Dave Luker to head home.

But Borough were back on terms after 18 minutes when new signing Rhodri Giggs and Tommy Turner set up Jamie Rother for the equaliser.

But, on 31 minutes, St Helens took the lead again when Adam Gilchrist found the net.

Their lead lasted just four minutes when Warren Collier latched on to Steve Shiels’ header over the keeper to make it 2-2.

Borough started the second period in irresistible fashion and took the game away from their hosts.

Turner, playing with a protective shield over his injured cheekbone, gave Bacup the lead for the first time on 51 minutes after Giggs had played him in with an inch-perfect through ball.

And Giggs, younger brother on Manchester United legend Ryan, was the provider again three minutes later for Bacup’s fourth when his beautiful cross-field ball found Collier, who helped himself to his second.

Bacup pressed for a fifth with Giggs, Collier and Turner all going close.

But Dyson’s second for the Saints eight minutes from time will have caused manager Brent Peters’ nerves to jangle but Bacup stayed on top to take the points.
