CHRIS McCann's second goal in two games has put Burnley in the driving seat against Championship leaders Birmingham.
The midfielder, who scored a consolation at Reading two weeks ago, broke the deadlock midway through a high-tempo first half, after Martin Paterson delivered an inviting ball to the far post.
McCann towered above the defence to send a downwards header past Maik Taylor, and should have added a second three minutes later, but sent a free header wide.
Wade Elliott, who had been involved in the build-up to the goal, continued to supply inviting crosses from the right, but after Joey Gudjonsson headed straight at Taylor, Steven Thompson ended the half by nodding just wide of the far left post.
