ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman knows he has an in-form striker on his hands if he needs to call on Andy Smith at Luton tomorrow.
The 18-year-old has only one senior appearance to his name but took his tally for the season in the reserves to five goals with a brace in Wednesday’s 2-0 home win against Morecambe.
And that came 24 hours after Smith scored in the 2-2 draw in a behind closed doors friendly at Wrexham, which was arranged to give Stanley’s first team chance to prepare for the Luton clash and which also saw Andy Procter find the net.
Coleman said: “We had a behind closed doors game and that went well. There were some positive performances.
“And young Andy Smith did well to get a couple of goals in the reserves after scoring on Tuesday, so he’ll be full of confidence.”
