JIMMY Ryan believes Accrington Stanley have proved they can compete in League Two - even though they currently have the third worst record in the division.

Stanley have taken only one point from their last seven league games and would be lower than their current position of 19th if Rotherham, Bournemouth and Luton had not been given hefty points deducions before the start of the season.

But Ryan feels that the Reds, who travel to Luton tomorrow after a 3-2 home defeat to Bradford, have competed in each of their 10 league games this season and is optimistic that they will soon start to get results.

The Republic of Ireland under 21 international said: “I don’t think there has been any team in this division that we’ve played, even though they have won, that has given us a very tough game.

“Obviously it has been tough but I don’t think any of them have played us off the park in any way, shape or form.

“I think we’ve competed with them in nearly every game. It’s just a matter of goals going in, taking chances and little defensive errors. That’s it.

“The way we’ve played hasn’t justified our scores. But it’s a long season so hopefully we’ll pick up more results, particularly playing the way were doing.
