DARWEN boss Dennis Hill is hopeful that his side’s season will finally get going after a few false starts.

The Anchor Ground club go to bottom-of-the-table Ashton Town buoyed by last weekend’s 4-1 Vodkat League Cup win over Rochdale Town.

And Darwen have been further boosted by the arrival of Nelson pair Luke Hargreaves and Ben Walker with Matt Woods going in the opposite direction.

“I keep saying we have turned the corner but then we go and suffer a few defeats,” said manager Dennis Hill. “But we have swapped things around and brought in a few new players and there is now a real buzz in the squad.”

Such is that new found confidence that Hill was disappointed that Tuesday’s midweek clash against in-form Chadderton was postponed.

“We were a bit gutted because I think we could have beaten Chadderton,” added Hill. “But it is now important that we follow up one good win with another one.”
