There was a great win from Junior National Hill Climb Champion Adam Pinder of Great Harwood when he beat several top senior riders in the Lancaster Cycling Club promotion.

Held on the long steep climb to Jubilee Tower, the Blackburn and District CTC teenager clocked seven minutes, 27.6 seconds, beating the 7m 53.9s of in-form Jimmy Wright of Burnley into second place, with third going to CTC team-mate Ian Stott with 8m 10.8s.

Wright was the winner of the final Rudy Project circuit time-trial of 2008, held in Northamptonshire, with a convincing beating of 11-times British Best all-rounder Kevin Dawson. Wright’s time of one hour, 2m 15sec for the sporting 28 miles was over two minutes faster than that of Dawson.

The annual climb of the Nick o’ Pendle will be held on Sunday, with organiser Mike Addis of the North Lancashire Road Club receiving 22 entries, including all of our local riders above, plus Simon Wilson of Worsthorne, Dave Cook, the ex-National Road Race Champion, and Bolton’s Adrian Lawrence, with the Blackburn CTC also represented by Paul Smith and Chris Edmondson. The event starts at 10am from Sabden.
