ACCRINGTON Stanley expect to complete the loan signings of Peterborough United centre back Kieran Charnock and an unnamed wide midfielder today.

Stanley have moved to bolster their squad after being hit by injuries and suspensions and Charnock is likely to start at centre back at Luton on Saturday.

This may allow Phil Edwards to switch to right back to cover for the suspended Peter Cavanagh.

A second loan signing should also be available to feature at Kenilworth Road.

The Reds were outbid by Peterborough when they tried to sign 24-year-old Charnock from Northwich last summer.

But he was transfer listed by Posh boss Darren Ferguson in August, though he did start in their weekend League One win at Walsall as cover for players on international duty.

Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell said: “We’ve been chasing Kieran for quite a while.

“He played for Peterborough on Saturday but I think his chances have been limited there.

“He’s a very good player. He’s a centre back but he is versatile and can play all along the back four or as a holding midfielder.”
