UNIBOND First Division North promotion hopefuls Clitheroe had to be patient before securing victory against a Colwyn Bay side containing former Burnley and Accrington star Graham Branch.

The visitors had the two best chances of the goalless first half but failed to take them when it looked easier to score.

The Blues finally got on top and opened the scoring in the 71st minute when a neat little delivery into the box by Mark Sharples was glanced home by the head of Bernard Morley.

The second goal arrived in the 74th minute when Anthony Johnson finished with a low drive from just inside the penalty area.

Then a good run from sub Matt Edgington took him close to goal and his ball along the goal line was knocked in at the far post by Carl Lomax in the 82nd minute.
