BLACKBURN Rovers are poised to tie up a new deal for vice-captain David Dunn once the transfer window has closed.
The midfielder and lifelong Rovers supporter - whose current contract expires in the summer of 2010 – is keen to negotiate new terms with the Ewood Park club.
But the Blackburn board will wait until manager Paul Ince has completed his summer signings before the transfer deadline on September 1.
“David wants to stay with us, and we want to keep him,” said Rovers chairman John Williams.
“He’s had a short discussion with the manager, and when the transfer window closes, I’m sure we’ll sort it out.
“But it’s not an urgent matter. David’s still got the best part of two years to run on his contract.”
Dunn, 28, has enjoyed a decent start to the Premier League campaign, scoring in the opening day victory at Goodison Park.
He picked up an Achilles injury, however, in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Hull City and will not start tomorrow night’s Carling Cup second round tie against League Two Grimsby Town at Ewood Park.
