Lewis Travis will miss Rovers’ trip to Hull this weekend after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Leeds.

The skipper initially did well to stop a counter attack but was then cautioned for kicking the ball away by referee Lewis Smith.

He has started every league game alongside Sondre Tronstad since the start of the campaign, but that midfield partnership will now be broken against the Tigers.

Despite the booking, John Eustace was delighted with Travis’ performance against Leeds and hailed the 27-year-old’s impact on and off the pitch since returning from his loan at Ipswich.

“Trav’s performance again was sensational,” said Eustace. “I think he has been a real leader since he came back.

“His performances, overall, have been top drawer. He will get a rest next week and it gives somebody else an opportunity to come in and play.

“It is important that he leads by example and plays his way, I don’t want him to change how he plays. He is a very good footballer, he is improving every day.

“Before I came to the club, he was a player who I admired but now working with him day in, day out, there is a real top player there and we are very fortunate he is the captain of our football club.”

The head coach was also pleased with Tronstad’s display at the weekend as Rovers made it three successive wins in the Championship.

The Norwegian made a vital block to deny Willy Gnonto in the second half after Aynsley Pears had initially done well to keep out Pascal Struijk’s header.

“Week in, week out, Sonny is an unsung hero – as it Trav,” Eustace insisted. “Both go about their business quietly but very effectively and it really gives us a platform to be able to do what we want to do.”
