Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 8

Made a few good saves to deny Gnonto and then Struijk's header. Commanded his box well, particularly second half when the pressure was ramped up.

Callum Brittain - 8

Really impressive defensively again. Also got forward and put a lovely cross on the head of Ohashi, who should have scored.

Danny Batth - 8

Won plenty of heads and kept Piroe quiet until he went off. Has been such an important addition.

Dom Hyam - 8

Had one scary moment in the first half with a short back pass but otherwise didn't put a foot wrong.

Harry Pickering - 8

Did well to shackle James with the help of Beck. Another rock-solid defensive performance.

Lewis Travis - 8

Battled scrapped and fought for his team. Frustratingly picked up a yellow for kicking the ball away and so will now miss Hull.

Sondre Tronstad - 9

Immense in midfield. So many blocks, tackles and interceptions. A brilliant performance.

Tyrhys Dolan - 9

His best performance for a fair while. From minute one, he looked at it. Running at defenders and causing problems. Won the penalty and was a constant thorn in Leeds' side.

Todd Cantwell - 8

Took the penalty and finished it well into the bottom corner. Could've had two more but wasn't ruthless enough.

Owen Beck - 8

A good man for this occasion. Gave them some drive down the left whilst helping out at the back.

Yuki Ohashi - 7

Ran himself into the ground for an hour. Should have scored with a header from close range but does so much good work for the team.

Substitutes:

Makhtar Gueye (Ohashi, 63') - 6

Had 30 minutes to hold the ball up and get Rovers up the pitch. Did ok but didn't see much of it.

Ryan Hedges (Cantwell, 91')

Unused substitutes: Hilton, McFadzean, Rankin-Costello, Buckley, Baker, Cozier-Duberry, Leonard.

Referee: Lewis Smith
