Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Aynsley Pears - 8
Didn't have any major saves of note to make despite the Middlesbrough pressure. Commanded his box well.
Callum Brittain - 8
Didn't give anything away down the right side against Hamilton and Borges. Carried an attacking threat first half.
Danny Batth - 8
Restricted Latte Lath and Conway to very little. Rovers defended their box manfully throughout.
Dom Hyam - 8
Scored his first goal of the season by prodding in at the back post. Didn't put a foot wrong at the back.
Harry Pickering - 8
Handled Doak really well with Hedges helping him by working hard defensively. Has done well since coming back into the team.
Lewis Travis - 8
Really good in the first half at winning the ball back in the Boro half at the right time.
Sondre Tronstad - 8
Mopped up alongside Travis really well. Restricted the space in the centre and forced Boro out wide.
Tyrhys Dolan - 6
Missed a really good chance at the back post. Carried a threat off the right in the first half but was quiet in the second.
Todd Cantwell - 7
Thought he'd scored his first Rovers goal but was flagged offside. Good in the first half but saw less of it after the break.
Ryan Hedges - 7
Worked hard defensively to double up on the very dangerous Doak. Had one sight of goal which Brynn saved and another he didn't make good contact with.
Yuki Ohashi - 7
Worked hard up front but didn't get loads of service.
Substitutes:
Owen Beck (Hedges, 67') - 7
Filled in on the left of midfield to keep things tight. Delightful flick to Cantwell for the winning goal.
Lewis Baker (Cantwell, 81') - N/A
Late change to soak up the pressure in midfield.
Makhtar Gueye (Ohashi, 86') - N/A
On after Ohashi picked up a small knock.
Unused substitutes: Toth, McFadzean, Rankin-Costello, Buckley, Cozier-Duberry, Leonard.
Referee: James Bell
Attendance: N/A
