Blackburn Rovers vs Portsmouth has been postponed after a pitch inspection at 11am.
The club confirmed that referee Farai Hallam would inspect the surface four hours before kick-off. There has been heavy rain in Lancashire and yellow weather warnings placed across the country.
Temperatures are due to rise today and throughout the evening after a bitterly cold week. It is rain, rather than any frost, that has lead to this pre-match checks.
However, the pitch has been deemed unplayable and the game has been postponed.
A club statement said: "Due to an unplayable pitch caused by torrential rain, today's match against Pompey at Ewood Park has been postponed by the match official We will announce details of the rearranged fixture in due course."
2,000 Portsmouth fans had already began their journey to Ewood Park. An early decision on the match, at least, gives them time to salvage their day.
Rovers are next in action against Middlesbrough on Wednesday night, before hosting Leeds United.
