Gregg Broughton has been named as the new Sporting Director of Major League Soccer side, Chicago Fire.
The former Blackburn Rovers Director of Football left the club in the summer as part of a restructure on the football side. Broughton spent two years at Ewood Park and this is his first role since departing.
Broughton has been doing consultancy work in the interim but has now agreed a new role in the States.
“I’m delighted to join Chicago Fire FC as Sporting Director and share Gregg Berhalter’s vision of making the Fire one of the top clubs in North America,” Broughton said.
“I look forward to supporting Gregg across all areas of the sporting department to develop a culture of excellence and create a player trading model that supports both signing and retaining the talent needed to drive success.”
Rovers appointed Rudy Gestede to fill the role of Head of Football, with Adam Owen becoming Head of Technical, splitting the responsibilities previously held by Broughton. John Park also replaced Sean Kimberley as Head of Recruitment.
