Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 8

Fantastic save to deny Manhoef at 1-0 which could've been game-ending. Could do little about his powerful opener from the edge of the box.

Callum Brittain - 7

Got forward brilliantly in the first half and gave Rovers width on the right side. Did it less in the second half.

Danny Batth - 5

Didn't have many problems from Tom Cannon up front. One nervy moment with a back pass in the second half and then gave away the penalty which looked soft on first viewing.

Dom Hyam - 6

On another day, it could've been a clean sheet for Rovers. Stoke had three chances and the goal they scored wasn't one of them. The other was a penalty.

Harry Pickering - 7

Combined very nicely down the left in the first half to create overloads. Didn't see as much of that second half.

Lewis Travis - 7

Tried to add an attacking threat with a few shots from range but couldn't find a way through.

Sondre Tronstad - 7

Played some nice passes and kept things moving in the first half.

Ryan Hedges - 6

Had some nice combinations but should've done better with his chance when put through on goal. Needs to start scoring more.

Todd Cantwell - 8

Best player on the pitch in the first half. Much quieter in the second but still stood out.

Andi Weimann - 6

Didn't offer a lot in open play but still had two very good efforts saved by Johansson. Couldn't have done much more with them.

Yuki Ohashi - 6

Denied twice in the first half by Johansson with a shot from a tight angle and a header. Linked play but looks a little short on confidence in front of goal.

Substitutes:

Tyrhys Dolan (Hedges, 65') - 6

Had a brilliant curling shot tipped over the bar. Booked for dissent and now suspended for Cardiff.

Makhtar Gueye (Ohashi, 77') - 4

Missed an absolute sitter from a couple of yards. Hard to defend that one.

Harry Leonard (Travis, 84') - N/A

On for the last 10 and then Stoke got a penalty and ended the game. Headed an effort just wide.

Unused substitutes: Toth, McFadzean, Litherland, Rankin-Costello, Buckley, Tyjon.
