Blackburn Rovers loanee Dilan Markanday continued his impressive goal-scoring run for Chesterfield.

The 23-year-old is enjoying life in League Two with the Spireites and has impressed Paul Cook during his time at the club. Markanday netted for the third time in five games at the weekend, taking his tally to five for the season.

Markanday added the first in a 5-2 win over Morecambe with a deflected strike which looped over the goalkeeper and into the net. That followed up his poacher-like goal against Newport County in the previous away fixture.

Whether as a number 10 or on the right wing, Markanday has been an outlet for Chesterfield, who are vying for back-to-back promotions into League One.

Markanday is out of contract in 2025 but has a one-year option on his deal. It will be interesting to see how Rovers assess his future if he continues in his current run of form.

Elsewhere, James Edmondson had a productive debut for Macclesfield as he netted on his first appearance. He joined Robbie Savage's side last week on a short-term loan deal.

They are through to the next round of the FA Trophy after an emphatic 7-1 win over Ashton United. Edmondson scored the fifth in a comfortable victory for the Silkmen.

Jake Garrett and Connor O'Riordan were not named in the Bristol Rovers or Cambridge United squads, respectively.
