Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Aynsley Pears - 7
Didn't have much to do again as his defence guarded him well for the most part. Sent the wrong way from the spot.
Callum Brittain - 7
Provided good energy down the right-hand side and linked up well with Hedges. A good return to the side.
Danny Batth - 7
Didn't put much of a foot wrong. Will now get a run of games with Carter undergoing surgery.
Dom Hyam - 7
Handled the pace of Baah pretty well in the most part. Somehow hit the bar and post from six yards.
Owen Beck - 6
Had some nice driving runs but was really put to the test by Ebosele from a defensive point of view.
Lewis Travis - 6
Wasn't in the game as much but had to be disciplined with Watford playing four in the middle.
Sondre Tronstad - 7
Won a fair few second balls and challenges. A couple of nice bits of interplay in attack.
Ryan Hedges - 7
Probably the best of Rovers' attackers with some nice link-up in the final third. Gave away the penalty with handball in the area though.
Andi Weimann - 5
Wasn't overly influential in the game and missed a really good chance to score just before the penalty.
Todd Cantwell - 6
Was key in Rovers' bright start but drifted in and out of the game as it progressed. Didn't see enough of the ball in the second half.
Makhtar Gueye - 4
Not a great day at the office for the striker. Didn't get much off the referee when he was being fouled but his touch and technique left a few question marks.
Substitutes:
Yuki Ohashi (Gueye, 59') - 6
Had a couple of half-chances with two headers that he couldn't get on target.
Arnor Sigurdsson (Weimann, 77') - N/A
Didn't see much of the ball after coming on. Probably will feel he could've been given a chance earlier.
John Buckley (Travis, 77') - N/A
A few decent tackles after coming on late.
Joe Rankin-Costello (Hedges, 77') - N/A
Had to play a hybrid midfield and attacking role as Rovers chased the game.
Tyrhys Dolan (Tronstad, 83') - N/A
A surprisingly late sub considering he's started every match this season.
Unused substitutes: Toth, McFadzean, Pickering, Baker.
Referee: Darren England
Attendance: 18,880
