Carlos Corberan believes West Brom were denied an “obvious” penalty during their goalless draw against Rovers.
The incident occurred when Darnell Furlong got in front of Todd Cantwell inside the area, but referee John Busby was unmoved.
“I think the action of the penalty, live, Furlong received a foul. A foul in the box, it is a penalty,” said Corberan.
“Because he was in the position and the defender (Cantwell) makes a foul to avoid the finishing of Furlong. In these actions, the referee didn’t understand enough probably to issue a penalty.
“It has not been a penalty because the referee didn’t whistle. But live, it was an obvious one.”
Despite that moment, the Baggies chief admitted the draw was probably a fair result on the night.
“I really value the effort the players have put in to take a point away tonight,” he added. “Every single team who has played here so far in the league have lost, Blackburn had five wins from five here.
“It is important to value the competitive level the team has put on the pitch to achieve the draw.
“Of course, the draw is not the result we want and we don’t view the point as a good point, but we will put the effort of the players down as a good point. We are going to work more and more to the find the solutions to help us find three points.
“It is true that the team has done enough good things to get a better result. For me, the team understood the game well and they were very aggressive.
"We found ways to achieve the control of the game in some moments. If you played the game very open, with the speed they have in attack, it would have been a difficult game to manage.”
The result leaves West Brom fourth in the table, having only lost twice since the start of the campaign.
“I like that the team, especially in the second half and in the last minutes, have controlled the game much better,” Corberan continued.
“We only lost the ball once in the middle of the pitch which led to them having a chance through a counter.
“In general, we had more possibilities to get something else and to achieve three points. It is important to create the chances and to keep growing in attack without losing the solidity in defence.
“There were actions where we could have used the ball better and we’ll continue to work on that.”
