Blackburn Rovers youngster, James Edmondson has joined Macclesfield FC on a short-term loan.

The highly-rated midfielder will get his first taste of senior men's football away from Ewood Park until November 20th.

Macclesfield, coached by former Rovers man Robbie Savage, are top of the Northern Premier League. He thanked his old club for trusting them with Edmondson's development.

“We are delighted to welcome James to the Football Club," he told the Macclesfield club website.

“James is an exciting young player and we are pleased to be able to offer him a taste of senior football.

“I have got a very strong rapport with Stuart (Jones) and First Team Manager John (Eustace), so to be able to bring in these young talents highlights the relationship between the two clubs.”

Edmondson made his first-team debut against Harrogate Town last season, scoring in an 8-0 Carabao Cup win for Rovers. He will now, hopefully, get a chance to further his progression with a string of starts for a team that is flying.

Macclesfield have won 11 of their first 13 league fixtures and sit top of the division. They, of course, are the reincarnation of Macclesfield Town, who went out of business in 2020.
