John Eustace wants Tyrhys Dolan to stay at Blackburn Rovers and extend his contract with the club.

Talks between Dolan's camp and Rovers have not progressed despite Rudy Gestede stating it is 'a priority' to address his expiring deal. The Lancashire Telegraph reported last week that no recent contact has been made to re-open discussions about renewing.

Despite that, Dolan remains a central figure in Eustace's plans. He has featured in every Championship game since the head coach took over in February.

Unsurprisingly, the Rovers boss would like Dolan to stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

"I think Ty is a very talented young player who has done very well since I've been here," he told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"His form this season has been good, especially at home. He's a talented boy and I'd love him to stay if we're looking to build and do things properly.

"He has well over 100 games under his belt for this football club at 22. He's a great young player, a pleasure to work with and I know the group love working with him.

"He's a good squad player to have. I think whoever is here, the environment is one that will help them to develop, learn and keep growing with the football club."

The international break has allowed Rovers players some time for rest and recovery; a reset after back-to-back defeats before the break.

Whilst fans might be hoping that allows someone like Todd Cantwell an opportunity to string a run of starts together, Eustace was non-committal.

"I think Todd has done well when he's come off the bench and he's a very talented player, a very exciting player.

"We also have lots of players who have done well up to now. It's important we keep the squad happy and not let everyone be unhappy. It's about the squad and not one individual."

Swansea are this weekend's test, having won, drawn and lost three each of their first nine. It will be another tight game but Rovers' Ewood Park form makes them favourites.

"That's the Championship, every team is the same. They're in every game that they play," Eustace said on the Swans.

"It's a difficult game and that highlights the league. Everyone can beat everyone on their day and it's just about getting that level of consistency which is key.

"Every team is coached very well now, they have good groups of players. It's very difficult to win a game in this league. There are a few teams where the money they have will see them in the top few but everyone else is waiting to find that magic formula to spark a good run.

"Our fans have been amazing and that's been crucial at home to have that level of support. We want even more through the turnstiles, that would be great.

"If can they keep supporting the boys through those difficult moments, they've already done that this season. The more we get at Ewood the better for us and the club."
