John Eustace has insisted Blackburn Rovers are a work in progress and would like to bolster their squad further.

Rovers have made a strong start to the Championship season after nine games and will have an even better idea of where they sit after the next block of six fixtures.

That will mark a third of the way through the season and with the January transfer window looming, speculation about potential mid-season additions.

Eustace has not been shy that he believes Rovers can still get stronger and would like to sign more players to do so.

"I think the players we have here at the moment are doing very well," he said.

"I think it's very evident that we put the group together late and there are other areas we want to improve, of course, there are.

"We would like to bring more players in. But it's important people realise we are a work in progress. We've made a great start but there will be ups and downs.

"We will win games, lose games and draw games. These players are 100% committed. Of course, we'd like to sign more players to make us even better and improve.

"The squad we have at the moment is a very talented group of players who we're delighted to be working with."

Rovers host Swansea City this weekend with West Brom, Watford and Sheffield United making it a tough run. Stoke City and Cardiff City round-up the games before the November pause.

Eustace is not in the mind of setting points targets or tallies as some managers do for set blocks. Instead, he focuses on each game at a time, starting with the Swans.

"I think the break has helped us, players have had extra time to get fit who joined us late," he explained.

"The last few weeks, we have been able to get people back on the training pitch so we've used it well. There have been positives in the nine games, we're still learning about the group and the different players in that.

"The players have trained very well. We have a very good group and we don't let the setbacks affect us. It's been a very good 10 days.

"It's about helping each other. The older ones coming in have been fantastic for the younger players and new players who don't know the Championship. They're great for the bad times but the good times as well to keep their feet on the ground.

"It's important to keep level-headed and working hard. As coaching staff, you are always working and looking to improve new sessions. The staff here are magnificent.

"We try to look at each of these games in isolation. The games come thick and fast in the Championship and if you look too far ahead, you can be in trouble.

"That's something I've always said as a coach and a player, I think it's the right way to go."
