Yuki Ohashi was not selected for Japan against Australia and will now travel back to Blackburn Rovers ahead of facing Swansea City.
The 28-year-old was called up by the national team for the first time during this international break. He was an unused substitute in their 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia.
He was then left out of the squad for the game against Australia, a 1-1 draw in their homeland. Ohashi wasn't picked for the bench due to personnel choice rather than any injury worries, with Japan only naming 23 players for the game.
Despite the lack of involvement, their manager, Hajime Moriyasu, has suggested that Ohashi remains an important part of their group. The aim was to bed him into the senior camp this time around. Japan face Indonesia and China in November.

Ohashi will now travel back to Manchester and then to Brockhall as Rovers prepare to face Swansea City at the weekend. Given his lack of minutes, he will hopefully be ready for the game at Ewood Park.
Owen Beck similarly wasn't used by Craig Bellamy. Wales drew with Iceland and then beat Montenegro on Monday night.
The left-back is yet to earn his first senior but is clearly well-regarded by the national team set-up. He has impressed in his first two appearances at Rovers and will now be desperate to regain his place in the Rovers starting XI.
Andi Weimann and Balazs Toth both had watching briefs too during the break. Rovers' 33-year-old was recalled back to the Austrian squad but watched on as they dispatched Kazakstan and Norway with ease.
Perhaps the biggest international success over the break was for Leo Duru, who impressed in their win over Chile, making his USA Under-20s debut. They were then beaten 2-1 in the reverse friendly match.
Young goalkeeper Nick Michalski made his England Under-18 debut earlier this week. He had already been capped by the Under-15s and 16s before coming on as a half-time change in their 3-1 win over Ukraine.
Connor O'Riordan was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s in their two matches over the break. They drew 1-1 with Norway and Italy over the break with former loanee Andrew Moran drawing them level in the second game.
