We have taken a look at the players who departed Ewood Park over the summer and how they are getting on for their respective new clubs.
Sam Gallagher
The versatile forward signed for Stoke City in the summer after a five-year spell in East Lancashire.
Gallagher has made three Championship appearances for the Potters so far, netting in a 6-1 win against Portsmouth earlier this month.
However, he picked up a hamstring injury against Swansea City before the international break and is now set to miss Saturday’s clash with Norwich.
Stoke currently sit 17th in the table but have taken four points from their last couple of matches under new boss Narcis Pelach.
Sam Szmodics
The Irish international was snapped up by Premier League newcomers Ipswich following the best season of his career at Ewood Park.
Szmodics got off to a dream start at Portman Road, getting on the scoresheet against champions Manchester City.
He also started against Fulham, Brighton and Southampton but has been introduced off the bench in the past couple of games due to strike partner Liam Delap’s impressive form.
Ipswich find themselves 17th in the table and a point above the drop zone at this early stage. Kieran McKenna’s men are still waiting for their first league victory as they prepare to host Everton this weekend.
Leo Wahlstedt
The goalkeeper headed to Danish club Aarhus over the summer after failing to nail down a place at Rovers.
Wahlstedt has played a couple of times in the cup competitions this season but is yet to feature in the Superliga.
Aarhus currently sit third in the table, four points behind leaders Midtjylland, and have lost just once so far. They are back in action against Brondby on Monday night.
Semir Telalovic
It was a similar story for Telalovic, who returned to Ulm following a tough first season in English football with Rovers.
The 24-year-old has made six appearances in Bundesliga 2 so far and was on target in a 2-1 defeat against Nuremberg last month.
Ulm are 14th in the table as they aim to build on last term’s promotion, which ended a 23-year wait to return to the second tier of German football. They are back in action this weekend with a home fixture against Karlsruher.
Andrew Moran
The Brighton youngster is back on loan in the Championship, playing alongside Gallagher at Stoke.
Moran has made nine appearances for the Potters and also got on the scoresheet against Portsmouth earlier this month.
The highly-rated midfielder will hope to be involved against Norwich this weekend after returning from international duty with Ireland Under-21s.
Ben Chrisene
Another youngster who is back in the Championship, although Chrisene completed a permanent switch to Carrow Road from Aston Villa.
The defender has played seven times for the Canaries so far, including the 2-2 draw against Rovers in August.
Chrisene scored his first Norwich goal during a 4-1 win against Watford last month, wrapping up the result in the 89th minute.
Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side are currently in seventh place and only a point outside the play-offs, having won three of their last four matches.
Yasin Ayari
Unlike Moran, Ayari remained at Brighton this summer and has made a few appearances off the bench in the Premier League.
The Swedish international played most of the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates after James Milner was forced off with an early injury.
He also played the full 90 minutes of the goalless draw against Ipswich at the Amex a couple of weeks later.
The Seagulls are sixth in the table and only a couple of points off the Champions League places at this early stage.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side head to Newcastle this weekend and will be aiming to build on their dramatic comeback against Tottenham before the break.
Billy Koumetio
The defender made a permanent move to Scottish Premiership outfit Dundee in the summer following a six-year association with Liverpool.
Koumetio has made seven appearances for his new club so far, with six of those coming from the start.
Tony Docherty’s side find themselves eighth in the table, with their only league victory coming against Hearts a couple of months ago. They face a tough trip to fourth-place Motherwell this weekend.
