Balazs Toth is eager to make the most of any opportunities that come his way at Rovers and on the international stage.

The 27-year-old is yet to make his first appearance at Ewood Park following his summer switch from Fehervar, with Aynsley Pears starting every game between the sticks so far.

Toth is currently away with Hungary, who are back in action against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League tonight.

The shot stopper was called up to the senior squad for the first time in 2021 but is still waiting to be capped.

"I know that as an outside observer, the role of the number three goalkeeper is often strange,” he explained. “Many people think that anyone could sit there since they don't get a chance anyway.

“However, as a player, this is also a chance to prove yourself. It has been proven many times in my career that if you train hard and prove yourself in training, it does not go unnoticed.

“It is a great experience to work with Péter Gulácsi and Dénes Dibusz. As a number three, maybe the pressure isn't as great coming into training camp.

“However, I have to give myself 100 per cent in the training sessions, giving my best so that I can convince the professional staff that they can count on me next time.

"I wouldn't be afraid of the opportunity if I had to stand in the national team's goal, but I don't mind working in the background at all so they can perform as well as possible in the matches.

“I know that in order for my time in the national team to come, I must first defend regularly at Rovers.”

Toth was an unused substitute on Friday night as Hungary drew 1-1 against the Netherlands in Budapest.

Marco Rossi’s side currently sit third in their group, having taken two points from their opening three matches. They also have fixtures coming up against Germany and the Netherlands in November.
