Lewis Travis wants Blackburn Rovers' home form to continue to be the bedrock of what could be a successful season for the club.

Rovers are the only Championship club that can boast a 100 per cent record in front of their own supporters this season. Wins over Derby County, Oxford United, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers have set the tone for a positive start to the campaign.

It means that Rovers are already two-thirds towards equally their measly tally of six from last term. That was a very low bar and Rovers players and fans will not rejoice at simply surpassing that target.

Whilst every point is worth the same in football, winning in front of your own supporters helps to lift the mood of a club. It's where the bulk of your fans watch the team and that helps generate positivity.

COMMENT: EUSTACE WILL NOW GET SOMETHING HE'S NOT AT ROVERS

Travis believes the fans have played an important role in changing the atmosphere at Ewood Park and hopes that'll continue after the international break against Swansea City.

Despite back-to-back defeats, Rovers remain eighth at the second international break. They have eradicated any concern about another season of trouble and, instead, fans are looking up the table.

For those that were part of last season's underachievement, they have a point to prove. So far, Rovers have done that.

"I think we spoke at the start of the year about wanting to make Ewood Park a fortress. The fans help massively," he said.

"All the boys really love playing here. We are producing the performances and that's getting us the results.

"Kicking towards that Blackburn End in the second half, they suck it into the net sometimes. As long as they keep backing us with their voices, we can have a very successful season.

"All the lads who were here last year want to prove themselves, we're not a bottom-half team, nowhere near the bottom three.

"The lads have been keen to prove themselves and the ones that have come in are helping that too. It's always hard, the Championship is a ridiculous league and every game is tough.

"We will keep building and working on the training pitch which will help us get the performances."

Travis marked 200 appearances for the club in style last time out at Ewood, scoring the opener in the 2-0 victory over QPR. It was a proud moment and after two goals already this term he's hoping to add more.

"It's a really proud achievement to play for a club like this over 200 times and get that number of appearances," he said.

"I want to keep doing what I'm doing and, hopefully, get another 200 for the club.

I'm not a selfish player so I don't mind if I score or not but I wanted to add more goals and assists to my game.

"If we play two controlling midfielders it goes give me more license to go forward. I'd love to chip in with a few more for the team."
