John Eustace wants Blackburn Rovers to be more clinical to earn a foothold in matches away from home quicker.

Rovers take on Plymouth Argyle this weekend looking for their first away win of the season. They drew their first three Championship games on the road before losing at Coventry City in midweek.

In the last two matches away from home, Rovers have started slowly and struggled to build momentum in the game. Both Coventry and Preston had the better of the first halves in games Rovers didn't win.

Eustace doesn't believe the team has an issue starting slowly away from home but admitted the group are still learning how to control matches on the road.

"I think we started well at Coventry and we could've scored with Tyrhys and Yuki," he told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"We started well at Burnley with Andi hitting the shot just over the bar. You have to respect the opponents and take your chances in those early moments and those games are then different.

"When you play away, the fans and the atmosphere make it different and can cause a problem. When you look at it, there was a big break just before they played which could've seen us lose concentration possibly.

"It's about learning. We started well at Norwich and scored first. Over the course of the away games, I don't think we have started particularly bad.

"We have conceded a few early goals but I've been happy with the fight and the comebacks showed. It's something we must learn on throughout the season in whatever game we play, home and away.

"We always want to start games well but you can't always guarantee that happens. The most important thing is to react and stick together."

Plymouth are the next test this weekend. Wayne Rooney's side have improved as the season has aged making Home Park a tricky assingment.

Whatever the result, Eustace believes that after nine games, Rovers have started well.

"It's always a very difficult place to go. Every game they played there, they make it difficult for the opponent," he said.

"They play a very good style of game. They are a good team, they have pace, they recruited very well in the summer.

"It's going to be a good game. An exciting game, they play a good style. It'll be a tough game but one we're looking forward to.

"When you assess our start after nine games, whatever points tally we're on, it's been a good start. We have to put things in perspective.

"The group over the nine games have gelled well. Players adapting to the league, some who are adapting their fitness. At the end of this week, we'll look at where we are, where we can improve and keep getting better.

"I'm not surprised with the starter, we know our job, we have a great group of players in the dressing room and staff around the training ground. We know what the Championship is about, you don't get carried away with highs and lows.

"We will win games and lose games and after 46 games you see where you are. The start after nine games has been very positive and one we expected."
