Yuki Ohashi has been handed his first international call-up by Japan after an impressive start at Blackburn Rovers.

The Japanese forward has scored five goals in all competitions and has settled into life in England with minimal fuss. That has attracted the gaze of the national team.

Japan have two World Cup qualifiers coming up against Saudi Arabia and Australia after Rovers' fixture against Plymouth and Ohashi will be flying out to be part of the squad.

First up first up is a trip to Saudi on Thursday 10th October at King Abdullah Sport City in Jeddah. He will then be back in Japan as they host Australia at The Saitama Stadium.

Japan currently sit top of the Group C standings with two wins from their opening two games, which has already seen them score 12 goals and keep two clean sheets. Ohashi will be hoping he gets his debut, aged 28, which would be a huge success story for Rovers.

Ohashi is not the only Blackburn player that will be away over the international break. Andi Weimann has been recalled to the Austria squad too.

Owen Beck will be jetting off with Wales as he looks for his international debut in their National League matches. Balazs Toth is away with Hungary as well during the upcoming two-week break.
