Coventry boss Mark Robins felt his side were “good value” for their 3-0 victory against Rovers at the CBS Arena.

Jake Bidwell, Haji Wright and Brandon Thomas-Asante were all on target for the Sky Blues as John Eustace’s men saw their unbeaten start come to an end.

Robins was pleased to see his side deliver a “big performance” in response to their defeat at Leeds several days prior.

“They have been good so far but I thought we were good value for the win,” he said after the final whistle.

“I think we had 18 shots and a lot of them were really good chances, good crosses into the box. They had some good possession, they have some really good players.

“(Yuki) Ohashi has done tremendously well for them, he looks like a really good finisher. Tyrhys Dolan is always a livewire in behind and they have got the know-how of Lewis Travis.

“They have brought in Todd Cantwell, they have been really busy in the transfer market and I think they have got some good players in.

“We needed a big performance and I think that is what we saw. We are capable of that. Can we set that standard now? That can be a benchmark, can we keep going and try to improve?”

The result saw Coventry climb to 16th in the Championship table following a slow start to the campaign.

“We were in control for a lot of the first half but we ended up almost gifting them the ball in areas where they could hurt us, and we got away with it a little bit,” Robins added.

“That was something we wanted to cut out, it might be something with young players and a little bit of anxiety in the play.

“If they are calm on the ball, we can play out and when we did play out, we looked back to our best bits.”

Tatsuhiro Sakomoto was stretchered off in the opening 10 minutes, and Robins was able to shed some light on the injury.

“He has sliced his thigh, it has gone right down his thigh and you can see the stud marks,” he explained.

“I have not seen it back but he has got a nasty gash on his leg. It was really deep apparently so we just have to wait and see how it settles.”
