Former Rovers midfielder Liam Feeney has revealed his next chapter in the game after hanging up his boots.
Feeney had an initial spell on loan at Ewood Park from Millwall in 2014 before returning to East Lancashire on a permanent deal a couple of years later.
The 37-year-old also had stints at Bournemouth, Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool among others but is now looking to make an impact in a different role.
Feeney’s next chapter will be as a football agent and he hopes that other players can benefit from his knowledge and experience.
He wrote on social media: "After much thought and reflection, I decided a year ago it’s time to hang up my boots and retire from professional football.
"It was an incredible journey filled with unforgettable moments, challenges and achievements that I will cherish forever.
"I want to thank my family, friends, team-mates, coaches and everyone who has supported me throughout my career. Your support has meant the world to me. Also, a thank you to the fans of the clubs I was fortunate enough to have represented.
"While stepping away from the pitch has been bittersweet, I’m excited by this new chapter in football agency with Refuel Performance Management.
"I’ve loved every moment of helping the next generation of players navigate their careers (working alongside the management team that guided mine) and I look forward to using my experience to guide and support players on their journeys.
"Football has given me so much. Thank you all for being a part of my story, here’s to the future!"
Feeney headed to Bloomfield Road after his time at Rovers came to an end in the summer of 2018. The midfielder also spent a couple of seasons at Tranmere.
His last club was Scunthorpe United but he could not help the Iron avoid relegation to the National League North in 2022/23.
Feeney racked up more than 600 appearances in total, finding the back of the net 49 times along the way.
