Tyrhys Dolan believes Blackburn Rovers are proving doubters wrong with their fantastic start to the season.

John Eustace's side are unbeaten in seven matches to start the campaign, the first time any Rovers side has managed that for 30 years.

They have defied any summer reservations about another relegation battle and look well-equipped to challenge at the right end of the table.

Dolan lived and breathed the difficulties of the last 12 months. The atmosphere at Ewood Park against Queens Park Rangers couldn't have been more polar to when the same opponents visited in February, ending Jon Dahl Tomasson's reign.

"The place has a different feel to it. The supporters are right behind us, the additions that have been made are excellent," Dolan said.

"Everyone has bought into what we're doing, the gaffer has implemented a grit into us. That's what the boys are doing and you can see that. Every tackle, we're flying into them, tracking runners when we lose the ball.

"There is togetherness and that's what you need to do to be successful. It's been good. We don't want to get too carried away, we have an underdog mentality.

"People have written us off and we want to prove them wrong. We have bite going into every game and we want to silence people. That type of mentality will do well for us.

"It's going to be a long week coming up but hopefully we can remain unbeaten. The lads have really gelled together, I don't know what's different but the gaffer is huge on togetherness and it plants the seed.

"After what we went through last year, the run now feels special. We want to hold on to that. Everyone is buzzing but it's very matter of fact, we're onto the next game.

"We want to keep this winning feeling but from last year, it's a completely different one. We believe in what we can do and everyone believes in the quality in this team. I'm excited to see what we can do this year."

Rovers fans got their first proper taste of what Todd Cantwell can bring to this team. It's early days but, already, he looks like he could be a ceiling-raiser for Rovers.

Dolan and Cantwell were heavily involved in the second half, linking up down the left-hand side. He feels the summer signing will be a huge asset."

"He's a proper player, so technically gifted," he explained.

"Some of the balls he played, his fancy feet. With the confidence everything is putting into him, there is a real player there.

"He said to me at half-time that he wanted us to play together down that side. We're similar types of players and so we think on the same wavelength.

"Hopefully this is the start. He's a dangerous player and I'm sure with more games and training, he will keep progressing. That's just a glimpse of it today and we want to do that more."

Saturday was arguably Dolan's best performance of the season. He's began every match this term in his favoured number 10 role and is loving his football.

"The manager for me, personally, has been fantastic and he's put a lot of confidence in me," he admitted.

"I am really enjoying my football, more than ever. I am really happy and playing with freedom, no pressure and it's great.

"We know we have quality players that can come in and take your spot. Everyone is buzzing and those on the bench are quality and can make a difference.

"We know our philosophy and the gaffer drums it into us. Everyone knows their jobs and then even if there isn't much creativity, we're hard to beat and we can do the nasty bit.

"Even games like Preston when the quality wasn't great, we didn't get beaten."
