Lewis Travis is one yellow card away from a suspension after his booking against Queens Park Rangers.

The Blackburn Rovers captain has started every Championship match this season but is now walking a disciplinary tightrope for the next 12 games.

Travis was booked for a fairly needless challenge on Jonathan Varane on Saturday, taking his tally to the season to four. One more and he'll hit the five-booking freehold for a one-match ban.

That means he must avoid a card until after matchday 19, when the five-card rule extends to ten. John Eustace will be keen for his captain to manage himself carefully after four cards in his first seven games.

Rovers' 19th game is away at Hull City on December 7th. After that, the cut-off is after the 37th game for ten bookings. Then the end of the season for a total of 15.

Travis has been a crucial figure for Rovers since returning in the summer. Eustace praised his performances against QPR after scoring on his 200th career start.

"He's an outstanding leader, he's a leader of men," Eustace said.

"He has the respect of the entire building, all the fans love him. I couldn't wait to start working with him when he came in, I stayed in touch last season as well.

"He knows how important he is to this group, he's the captain of the football club. You can see in his performances that he's getting better with each game.

"I'm delighted he has scored a couple of goals. What he brings to the group is more than just a footballer, he's a leader and a gentlemen. He's an inspiration for a lot of the boys, a really good captain."

No other Blackburn Rovers player has picked up more than three, with Tyrhys Dolan, somewhat surprisingly, hitting that figure early on. Hayden Carter is the other player two games away from a ban.
