Queens Park Rangers boss Marti Cifuentes is wary of the new threat 'much-changed' Blackburn Rovers pose.

John Eustace's side welcome the Rs to Ewood Park this weekend looking to make it four consecutive Championship wins at home to start the season.

Rovers' last meeting with Rangers signalled a changing of the guard. A 2-1 home defeat saw the end of Jon Dahl Tomasson's reign with Eustace taking over.

Cifuentes believes the team is a very different proposition from last year as they prepare for the game.

“They’ve had a very strong start – they are a team much-changed from last season," Cifuentes told QPR.co.uk.

"They are strong on the counter-attack and reliable from a defensive point of view.

“They are in a good flow and don’t need many chances to hurt you. They have scored the majority of their goals from counter-attacking situations and have quality players in many positions.

“It’s going to be a difficult game and we are going to have to make sure we perform at a really high level if we want to get a similar result to what we got there last season (a 2-1 win).”

Rangers could have Ilias Chair and Morgan Fox available but Jack Colback and Liam Morrison will miss the game.

"It’s given everyone a boost – firstly because they’re important players for us, secondly because they have big personalities," Cifuentes said on team news.

“Ilias always affects the team with his positivity and Morgan is such a fantastic professional with high standards and demands.

“We will take a decision as to whether they are match-ready – but I’m optimistic about seeing them back involved soon.

“Liam has been in and out of training with discomfort in his knee. In the end, we have taken the decision for him to have minor but successful surgery.

“He’s going to be out for some weeks, but he’s very optimistic after the process and I’m sure he’ll be back stronger.

“Jack took a hit to the knee against Sheffield Wednesday. He has a minor injury and we’ll have to see whether he’ll be available for the game against Hull or Derby, because he definitely won’t be ready for Saturday.”
