Kyle McFadzean was pleased to get some vital minutes into his legs after biding his time at Blackburn Rovers.

The experienced defender hasn't played a minute of Championship football yet this season having signed at the start of August. McFadzean, who was without a club between June 30 and rejoining Rovers, has been building his fitness.

He has been on the bench and appeared twice in the Carabao Cup but he's found himself fourth in the centre-back pecking order. Like many others, he got 90 minutes under his belt in the Central League Match for the Under-21s on Tuesday.

Rovers' defence has very little to do against a far more inexperience team but the clean sheet is a nice confidence booster for those involved.

McFadzean was pleased to get an opportunity to show John Eustace his levels and gets important fitness in his legs.

“It was nice to get out there and play some football,” he reflected to RoversTV.

“The main thing is getting 90 minutes under my belt and it felt good.

“I need to play some games, get sharper and get up to speed. The lads have started the season really well and I need that game time.

“Nothing’s like a game and it was just really nice to get out there. You’re helping the young lads and getting something out of the game yourself by being professional.

"Matty (Litherland, CB partner) is a bright young lad, he played well. We all played our part and enjoyed it.

"Although we forced it a little bit towards the end, we’ll learn from that as a group. I thought everyone put in a good performance out there and we worked really hard as a team.

“Another big thing we want to do is to show what you can do in front of the manager, but it doesn’t matter to me as long as the team’s winning."
