Cardiff City will have a new manager when Blackburn Rovers face them in November after Erol Bulut became the third manager casualty of the Championship season.

The writing has been on the walls for the Bluebirds boss after a poor start to the season. Cardiff have one point and one goal to their name after six league matches, making it their worst start in 94 years.

Bulut did a good job with Cardiff last season and signed a new two-year deal in the summer. But a terrible start saw pressure mount and he is now the next manager to lose his job after Ryan Lowe and Steven Schumacher.

Saturday's 2-0 reverse at home to Leeds United was the final straw, with Omer Riza put in temporary charge of the team. Cardiff's statement on Sunday confirmed they were in the process of appointing a successor.

Schumacher is the early favourite with the bookmakers whilst former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Oscar Garcia is another candidate. He was reportedly in the running when Cardiff turned to Bulut in the summer of 2023.

Brian Barry-Murphy, formerly of Manchester City's Academy, and Alex Neil are two others that have been linked with the vacancy.

Rovers travel to South Wales on November 9 in an early kick-off, live on Sky Sports.
