Lewis Travis is enjoying working with Todd Cantwell and believes the former Rangers man can make an impact at Rovers.
Cantwell made his debut off the bench against Bristol City last weekend following his deadline day move to Ewood Park.
The 26-year-old is one of several new additions to the squad this season, and Travis is excited by the strength of John Eustace’s squad as Rovers aim to build on their strong start in the Championship.
"We have got some great new additions, the likes of Todd, Pape (Gueye), Yuki (Ohashi), Amario (Cozier-Dubbery),” he said.
"They have all come in and they are raring to go in training. We have a great core of players there. Everyone wants to win and I think this season, we can do anything.
"You hear a lot online about things but he doesn't strike me as that person. He has come in and he is very hard-working, a down-to-earth lad.
"The conversations I have had with him, he wants to play football and do well. He has shown that already in training so I am sure when his chance comes, he will take it."
Travis has picked up where he left off at Rovers following his loan at Ipswich as the Tractor Boys secured promotion to the Premier League.
The skipper has featured in all five league games so far and got on the scoresheet against Bristol City last time out.
"It has been fantastic, it is always good to play in your natural position and I have done that throughout my whole career,” he added.
"Hopefully, I can kick on from a positive start. It feels good at the minute, we didn't play too many games last year.
"The way the gaffer wants to play with the two holding midfielders, dominant in and out of possession, I think we will grow playing together."
Rovers have taken 11 points from their opening fixtures – a total only bettered by West Brom and Sunderland at this early stage.
Eustace’s men came from behind to beat Oxford and have also claimed points from losing positions against Norwich and Burnley.
That was something the side struggled with last season and Travis has been encouraged by their resilience in recent weeks.
The midfielder is eager to kick on heading into this weekend’s Lancashire derby against Preston North End.
“I am really pleased (with the start), we have a lot of new faces and I think they have adapted really well,” he said.
"We have seen the stats about how rare it was that we came from behind last year. We have done that this season to get a draw or win, that shows great character from the boys.
"We look at this block of games and we think a lot of them are winnable. We are ready to attach these four or five games.
"Everyone knows we are moving upwards, we just have to carry on and drive those standards on the grass. We just need to carry on going on about our business."
