Ryan Hedges believes the unity and squad depth at Blackburn Rovers has been the main factor in their unbeaten start to the season.

Rovers are five games without defeat, collecting 11 points in the Championship so far. There is a feel-good factor around Ewood Park which has been lacking for 12 months.

John Eustace has instilled a collective calm around the football club which has supporters right behind the team. Whilst there will undoubtedly be trickier moments to come, right now, everything is rosy.

The players are thriving in the feel-good factor at the moment. Hedges says that they are benefitting from everyone pulling in the same direction and the depth in the squad.

"I think it was a real team effort, everyone did their jobs and what was asked of them," he said, reflecting on the 3-0 win over Bristol City.

"You have to credit the manager for how he set us up. They couldn't live with our press, they couldn't get through us and that's where the first goal came from.

"We've started the season really well. The home form has been really good, the crowd are right behind us this season. With the manager in his first full season, everyone can see what we're trying to build.

"Everyone has been working for each other, we're a family which everyone has bought into. Everyone wants to be here and play their part.

"I think you can see everyone is pulling in the same direction. Players, coaching staff, fans, even higher up, they have been able to back the team and the manager. The squad we have has an abundance of talent.

"In plenty of other games, you have seen the impact from the subs, it's a squad game. It means you have to perform every week because someone else wants your shirt from one to 11.

"That's something we have lacked in previous seasons whilst I have been here and it's great to see. Everyone is happy and enjoying their football and we want to keep building in the right direction."

Rovers' summer signing have already made a big impact. Yuki Ohashi took his turn in the spotlight on Saturday with two sensational goals.

Replacing Sam Szmodics' goals is an impossible task for one player but, with 10 different goal-scorers already this term, Hedges expects the burden to be shared.

"All the new signings have made a really positive impact," he said.

"You can see what they're trying to bring. Yuki scored two goals, he was fantastic and he's a pleasure to work with.

"When we work on shooting, you can see the touch and finesse he has in front of goal. Give him the ball and he will score!

"We've lost 33 goals from last year, we have to replace that somewhere and most of the lads have chipped in. The front four are all of the mark and it doesn't have to be from one player, it can be 10, 15 goals from a few players."

Hedges is still working his way back to full fitness after two long injury lay-offs. He feels that his sharpness is improving and he is getting stronger.

"It was a bad challenge, I was caught quite high but I feel good, my body is good," he said.

"I think having a week with no games, two weeks of full training, has really helped. I have been training for six, eight, ten weeks now.

"The toughest part of being injured is not being able to contribute. It was tough, especially around the Christmas period to not be able to affect things, knowing you're a month or two away.

"Hopefully that will continue. I am at an age where I have to look after my body and I know the manager, coaching staff, medical team, have my best interests.

"When I went down he said I was coming off and I just wanted to get to 90. I want to play every minute but I know if I'm coming off there are players ready to come back and make a difference."
