Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Aynsley Pears - 8
Didn't have many saves to make in the first hour but was there when called upon to turn away Scott Twine's shot. Then was quick off his line to keep out Sinclair Armstrong.
Hayden Carter - 9
A goal-saving block just after the previously mentioned Twine effort stopped the lead being halved. A challenge as good as a goal from a player who has started the season very well.
Danny Batth - 8
Rock solid on his league debut. Won plenty of headers and aerial duels, as you'd expect.
Dom Hyam - 8
Didn't give Bristol City a sniff alongside his defensive unit. Handled Mayulu and then Armstrong with comfort.
Owen Beck - 9
Another really impressive performance from Beck. Looks tailor-made for the position, bundles of energy up and down that flank. He can defend too, which is often a weakness in a young full-back.
Lewis Travis - 8
Solid in the middle of midfield, breaking up play. Took his goal really well where he could've panicked. But he took his time and slotted in the corner.
Sondre Tronstad - 9
Really strong display in midfield. Won lots of second balls and his passing was excellent.
Ryan Hedges - 7
Some nice interplay with Carter down the right side, where he looks a lot more comfortable.
Tyrhys Dolan - 7
An assist to his name for the second after a good driving run into the heart of Bristol City's defence. Worked really hard out of possession.
Lewis Baker - 7
In for his league debut off the left. Not his natural position but he acquitted himself well.
Yuki Ohashi - 9
Quiet in the first half but boy did he make up for that. Two excellent finshes, the second an absolutely stunning strike.
Substitutes:
Andi Weimann (Baker, 71') - 6
Was unlucky not to start the match, in truth. Helped see the game out.
Todd Cantwell (Dolan, 76') - 6
Didn't see loads of the ball but the game was won by that point.
Amario Cozier-Dubbery (Hedges, 89') - N/A
On for the final few minutes.
John Buckley (Tronstad, 89') - N/A
Part of a late triple change.
Igor Tyjon (Ohashi, 89') - N/A
On for his debut for Rovers. A great moment for him.
Unused substitutes: Toth, McFadzean, Duru, Rankin-Costello.
Referee: Stephen Martin
Attendance: 14,087.
