Blackburn Rovers head coach John Eustace has missed out on August's Manager of the Month.

Rovers' boss was put up on a four-man shortlist after their unbeaten start to the Championship season. He was against Sunderland's Regis Le Bris, Watford's Tom Cleverley and West Brom boss Carlos Corberan.

Unsurprisingly, the only manager to boast a 100 per cent record, Le Bris, took the honour. The Black Cats beat Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Portsmouth in a perfect opening month on Wearside for the Frenchman.

Oxford United striker Mark Harris was named Player of the Month having scored in each of the four opening games. That made him the first player since Lyle Taylor, for Charlton Athletic, to net in a newly-promoted side's first four matches at Championship level.

Rovers fans saw his scoring prowess first hand with a sensational volley from 25 yards at Ewood Park. Eustace's side came from behind though and beat Oxford thanks to a late Arnor Sigurdsson winner.

Josh Maja, Luke O'Nein and Duncan Watmore were his competition but, in truth, the right candidates won the award on this occasion.

Eustace will be hoping for more success in Rovers' three matches in September. They host Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers, with a trip to Preston North End sandwiched in between next Sunday.
