Burnley have announced the signing of experienced defender John Egan on a deal until the end of the season.
Egan had been training with the Clarets following his departure from Sheffield United earlier this summer, having spent six years at Bramall Lane.
The 31-year-old has won promotion from the Championship twice and has more than 30 caps under his belt for the Republic of Ireland.
“First and foremost, I’m an ambitious person, an ambitious player and I feel like I’m at an ambitious club," he told the club site.
“The manager, staff and the players all want to be successful. I want to come in and add to that, I want to bring my experience and my ability into the group to help drive the group on.
“I’ve been here a few weeks now, I’ve got to know the lads and really enjoyed working with them and the manager.
“I’ve had some really good conversations with him. It’s been an incredible environment to come into, I’m delighted to be a Burnley player now and I'm looking forward to the future.”
Egan came through the ranks at Sunderland and had loan spells with Crystal Palace and Sheffield United among others..
The defender headed to Gillingham in the summer of 2014 and his impressive performances earned a move to Brentford a couple of years later.
Egan returned to Bramall Lane in the summer of 2018 for a then club-record fee and helped the Blades win promotion to the Premier League, finishing ninth in the top flight a year later.
The 31-year-old was promoted with the Yorkshire outfit again in 2023 and racked up more than 200 appearances in total as well as wearing the captain's armband.
Burnley have also announced that Luca Koleosho has put pen to paper over a new five-year contract at Turf Moor.
The 19-year-old joined the Clarets from Espanyol last summer and impressed in the Premier League before his season was cut short by injury.
Koleosho has made three appearances so far this term, getting on the scoresheet in the 5-0 win against Cardiff.
"(Last season) was tough because it was new for me to go through surgery and go through the rehabilitation process," said the winger.
"Having to deal with that and having the patience to take it step by step, the club were amazing with me.
"They were with me every step of the way and I needed that to be in the position I’m in now, where I can play 90 minutes and feel as good as I was last season."
