Owen Beck is hungry to prove himself in the Championship and nail down a place in the Rovers side.
The Liverpool loanee was thrown in at the deep end against Burnley last weekend but made a promising debut at Turf Moor.
Beck will provide competition for Harry Pickering, who missed the East Lancashire derby through injury.
“There are some very good players in the team and they have shown that in training,” said the 22-year-old.
“I will have to really show what I am about. Hopefully, I can get a good run of games and help the team.
“The Championship is a very competitive league and the games come thick and fast. You just need to take it game by game and win as many as you can.”
Beck impressed during a loan spell at Dundee last term, making 29 appearances as the Dee secured a top-half finish in the Scottish Premiership.
The left-back earned rave reviews for his performances North of the border and was even named in the Team of the Season.
“Playing regular football is massive in everyone’s career,” he insisted. “Last season was my first proper taste of that, I was playing every week and enjoying it.
“My confidence grew and I felt that I could show Dundee fans what I was about. I had a good season.
“Collectively, finishing sixth in the league and individually, getting in the Team of the Season, it was a massive accomplishment for me. Hopefully, I can replicate that form and have a successful loan here.
“When I went back from Dundee, I was a Liverpool player. I tried to impress in pre-season and felt like I did all I can.
“This loan came about and I spoke with the manager (John Eustace), now I am here and extremely excited.
“Going on loan, everyone wants to play but I know that I am going to have to do my bit on the pitch and show what I can do.”
Beck was around the Liverpool squad during pre-season, getting the chance to learn from some of the Premier League’s top players.
He is now relishing the demands of the Championship and wants to prove he can be relied upon when the games come thick and fast.
“Going away with the first team was a massive positive but maybe I didn’t get as many minutes as I would have wanted,” the Welshman explained.
“But that is football sometimes, I am here now and excited about the season ahead.
“When I spoke with the manager on the phone, it was a really good conversation. I like the way the team plays so it was a no-brainer really.
“Wherever you go on loan, you need to impress and show that you can play that amount of games.
“There are 46 games in the Championship and it is non-stop, you need to be able to cope with that and be ready for Tuesday, Saturday.
“In every game you play, you want to do your best to impress. The type of player I am, I want to defend well and get forward with goals and assists to help the team.”
