Sondre Tronstad believes Blackburn Rovers are well equipped for a successful season after an unbeaten start to the season.

Rovers' draw at Burnley ensured they head into the international break without a defeat to their name. They're only one of five sides that can boast that at this stage.

John Eustace's side have won both home matches and picked up valuable draws on the road, coming from behind to draw on each occasion.

Tronstad believes that Rovers have shown signs of improving their Ewood Park form and with a bigger squad this year, they can have a more successful season.

"It's been huge to take points away from home as well," he told RoversTV.

"We are performing well, winning games at home and that is really important. We didn't do that last year.

"It's about doing it every time to get that consistency every week. It's only four games but we have started well.

"We have a lot of quality in the group now and a bigger squad, players are fighting for their spot and that is what we need. It's a long season and we need the whole squad during the season.

Tronstad has formed an impressive partnership alongside Lewis Travis in midfield. The pair have started all four games and look a nice fit next to each other.

Their defensive qualities were particularly key on Saturday, in what was Tronstad's first taste of the East Lancs derby.

"I like playing with him in midfield," he said.

"He is a bit crazy but I like that. We both like to tackle and fight but we can play too. He could've won it at the end.

"He's crazier than me but you need that as midfielders. I think you need to be a bit crazy.

“I enjoyed it and thought it was a nice experience, especially when you get a point from a tough game and playing with a man down from the 60th minute.

“We showed character, dug in to get the point and could have won it at the end as well.

“Away from home against a difficult opponent, you have to find a way to pick up points.

“It was mostly about defending during the game with the 10 men, but we had some counter-attacks and the fans were right behind us.

“Burnley barely had a chance in the second half and we spoke after the red card about how we had to show character and really work as a team.

“It’s so important because you’ll have moments where you’re under pressure and we all defended for our lives.”
