Jack Vale believes he's made the right decision to rejoin Motherwell on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

The 23-year-old returned to Ewood Park in the summer having spent January onwards north of the border. He made a positive impression with The Steelmen and it was clear they wanted him to come back.

The late nature of Rovers' transfer business meant that was always going to happen later in the window. Once his place in the pecking order was established, it was clear he'd be better suited playing regularly away from Rovers.

Vale is out of contract in 2025 though Rovers have a one-year option.

“I heard about Motherwell since I left, really. I knew they wanted to try and get me back," he said.

“I was happy to come back, but I think the plan was to try at Blackburn Rovers first.

“I knew if I wasn’t going to get game-time this season, then I wanted to go on loan again, and for me this was the right place to do it.

“I’m happy they’ve taken me back, and I just want to hit the ground running, now."

“Stuart Kettlewell was in contact but it wasn’t constant," he added.

“In the last couple of weeks he’s been texting and phoning me and I think we have a good relationship, so I was fine to answer his calls and that, and I was honest with him, as he’s always honest with me.

“I wanted to work with him again, so I’m happy I’ve come back. I know the coaching staff and some of the players. There are some new players as well, so it’s good to get to know them, but I’m buzzing to be back, and I just want to keep going.

“For most of my loans, I’ve not really known many people there, so to know some of the lads here and the coaching staff, it’s easy for me to settle in and that’s going to help me on the pitch, as well.

“[With the international break] There’s a couple of weeks for me to get to know everyone a bit better, so I think that’s good for me to gel with the lads more, get my fitness back up and hopefully in the next game go back and get three points again.”
