Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 7

Didn't have a lot to do despite Burnley's dominance. One save in the first half and another off the post which he might've got to anyway.

Callum Brittain - 7

Switched off to let Anthony goal-side for the Burnley goal, which was poor. But redeemed himself with a very strong second-half display, under the cosh.

Hayden Carter - 9

A real leader at the back, particularly in the first half during Burnley's spell of dominance. Booked for a late tackle but otherwise very disciplined.

Dom Hyam - 8

Will be disappointed with how he lost Foster in the box for the Clarets' opener but second half he was immense. Got his head on every cross that came into the box as Rovers withstood serious pressure.

Owen Beck - 8

A really impressive debut considering the context. Had a nervy first 15 but then really grew into the game. Stood up defensively to a really tough test in Koleosho.

Lewis Travis - 9

Won plenty of tackles in the middle of midfield and managed himself on a yellow card for 65 minutes. Played the role of pantomime villain excellently.

Sondre Tronstad - 8

Equally solid alongside his midfield partner. Battened down the hatched once Rovers were a man light by shutting down the space in the centre of the pitch.

Andi Weimann - 8

What a goal. He'd already had one sighter which went just over the bar in the first minute. Then produces a looping volley at a moment when Rovers really needed it.

Tyrhys Dolan - 8

Caused problems at the top end of the pitch. Took his goal, which was wrongly ruled out for offside, very well. One other sight at goal and he forced a good save from Trafford.

Ryan Hedges - 7

Worked hard down the left-hand side and was involved in the controversial disallowed goal. Booked, as were most.

Makhtar Gueye - 6

A really disappointing moment as he was sent off for two yellows. Rules are the rules, as harsh as they feel, with the striker dismissed for waving an imaginary card.

Had been a good outlet for Rovers until that point, winning headers and holding the ball up.

Substitutes:

Yuki Ohashi (Weimann, 65') - 6

Didn't get much of a sniff with Rovers chasing the game. Ball didn't stick as well as it did with Gueye.

Lewis Baker (Hedges, 73') - 6

Forced to do an emergency role on the left of midfield, which he did for the team.

Leo Duru (Brittain, 88')

On for the final few minutes after Brittain picked up a knock.

Unused substitutes: Toth, McFadzean, Buckley, Rankin-Costello, Sigurdsson, Cozier-Dubbery.
