Burnley have completed the signing of Stoke City midfielder Josh Laurent.

The 29-year-old has put pen to paper over a two-year deal at Turf Moor, with the option of a further 12 months.

Laurent has plenty of Championship experience, having made more than 150 appearances in the division.

He told the club site: “I’m so happy to be here. I’m really looking forward to meeting my team-mates, working under the manager and learning as much as I can.

“It’s an exciting place to be right now and the aim for us is promotion and I want to be a part of that, it’s really exciting.”

Laurent progressed through the youth ranks at Queens Park Rangers before heading to Brentford in 2015.

The midfielder also had stints at Newport, Hartlepool, Wigan, Bury and Shrewsbury before getting a chance to prove himself in the Championship with Reading.

He was named the Royals' Player of the Year in the 2020/21 campaign and headed to Stoke 12 months later.

Laurent quickly became a popular figure among Potters fans and took on the captain's armband last summer.

Earlier today, Burnley confirmed the signing of Jeremy Sarmiento on a season-long loan from Brighton.
